Pine nut mouth

So, is it real or is it one of those weird beliefs that populate the intertubes?

My brain says 'weird belief' but my taste buds scream 'true' with a particularly nasty, metallic bitter flavour. If it's not pine nut mouth it must be something else horrible, so I'm sticking with the bizarre diagnosis (because I did, in fact, eat pine nuts on Friday in a very tasty spinach and roast pumpkin salad).

I might not be enjoying my food very much, but I am quite enjoying being part of a genuine online phenomenon. Why not? Silver lining, always look on the brightside, etc.

I've never heard of that! And I have pine nuts once a week or so. Oh no, something else to worry about!

Crazy! I had never heard of this either. I recently had a brazil nut that had a bitter flavour, but there was no after effect. I don't buy pine nuts often, but I do order salads, pizza etc when out that contain them.

Are you sure you're not pregnant? ;)

My co-worker and I were just discussing this! She's had it the first few months of her pregnancy - the metallic taste for everything she eats. I guess it is a similar phenomenon to the pine-nut-induced version.

Has it gone away for you yet?
